Society of Women Engineers is an organization that empowers and encourages women in the field of engineering. Through this organization we host events to provide opportunities for professional development, networking, as well as social events.

Throughout the past year we have done outreach events with the local Girl Scout troops and a local middle school creating engineering projects. We participated in Relay for Life the past two years with other College of Engineering student organizations and also walked in the Breast Cancer 5K as well. SWE also created a shack for Seminole Shack Showdown which is an annual event in the spring that is hosted by FSU and Habitat for Humanity to raise funds.

For the 2015 and 2016 fall semesters I had the opportunity to travel to the annual conference where I was able to meet with recruiters from companies, attend lightening talks, and meet amazing women engineers from around the country. For the conference in fall 2015,  I was chosen to participate in the College Leadership Institute where I was allowed to attend special presentations, networking hours, and discussed various topics with the other attendees via LinkedIn prior to attending. It was an amazing experience to speak with SWE members about their chapters, exchange thoughts, and converse about our career aspirations.

This organization has gotten me involved on the engineering campus.  I served as the Executive Board Treasurer for the 2014-2015 terms and then the Membership Coordinator for fall 2015. These roles challenged me to work closely with other members, implement new strategies, and further collaborate to grow the organization.
